What a soft strip
involves

Soft strip is the careful removal of internal fixtures, fittings and non-structural elements. It's usually the first stage before a refurbishment, or before a building is demolished, so that reusable materials come out intact and the waste can be separated properly.

  • Free site survey and written quote
  • Fixtures, fittings and architectural features set aside for reuse or resale
  • Waste sorted, with over 90% of materials recovered and reused
  • Fully insured, with RAMS on every job
  • Available seven days a week, including urgent and short-notice work

How a strip-out works

  1. Free site survey

We look at the building, what needs to come out and what can be reused, and talk through what you need.

  2. Written quote

You get a clear written quote, with the value of anything worth reclaiming reflected in the price.

  3. RAMS and planning

Risk assessments and method statements are provided before work starts, so everyone knows how the job will run.

  4. Salvage first

Reusable fixtures, fittings and architectural features come out first and are set aside.

  5. Strip-out

Non-structural elements are removed and the waste is sorted as we go, ready for reuse and recycling.

  6. Ready for the next stage

The building is left clear, ready for the refurbishment to start or for demolition.

Questions about soft strip

What is the difference between soft strip and strip-out?

The two names are often used for the same job. Soft strip usually means removing everything non-structural before a refurbishment or a demolition, and strip-out is the name more often used for the same work in shops and offices.

Do I need an asbestos survey before a soft strip?

If the building could contain asbestos, yes. A refurbishment and demolition asbestos survey is needed before work that disturbs the fabric of a building, and any asbestos it finds has to be dealt with before the strip-out starts.

What happens to the materials you remove?

Waste is sorted and over 90% of materials are recovered and reused. Fixtures and features worth reusing are set aside, and their value is reflected in our quote.

Do you strip out homes as well as commercial buildings?

Yes. We take on everything from small residential strip-outs to complex commercial and industrial projects.

Can you demolish the building after the strip-out?

Yes. A soft strip is often the first stage of a demolition, and we can manage the whole job, from the first survey to a clear site.

How soon can you start?

We're available seven days a week and can often fit in urgent or short-notice work.
